I would write loving words
soft words,
meaningless words spoken by
lovers lying in bed

I would write of gentleness
secure places and spaces
where all burdens are put down;
a welcome to hurt and loneliness
that loneliness and hurt, un-needed
can finally dissolve

I would love
and delight that the shining light
eases the darkness called
the knowing of inadequacy;
the seeking of happiness

I would speak;
but you listen to my words.
